Capturing the Art of Architecture
The art of architecture is often lost in its functional predisposition. Yet, no tourist itinerary is complete without visiting local monuments. A building is the absolute exemplification of functional art. An ode to the limits of human perseverance. Whether it is the tallest building or the smallest home, each space provides purpose to people who live there. And they in turn add personality to their palace.
As a photographer, it is my endeavor to authentically represent this combination of functional art and personal space. Natural light is one of the most important elements I incorporate in my compositions of architectural design. Natural light creates depth and texture for exterior vistas, while adding to the mood and ambience indoors.
If you browse through the images here, do try and observe how natural light is used to accentuate features of design and form. From photographing centuries old buildings to commercial spaces and luxurious modern homes, the process may differ but the goal is always the same, to illustrate an authentic narrative. One that resonates with those who belong there as well as those who covet the experience.
Hotels
For some a home away from home, for others a fantasy getaway to celebrate intimate moments. The scale may vary but the experience should always be the same - unique and unforgettable. Photos are the first impression for your guests. Only the utterly impeccable must be presented. Luxury hotels, business hotels, boutique hotels or budget hotels, all strive for customer satisfaction. Begin that customer journey with befitting images.
Heritage
Heritage architecture has been very close to my heart. Often ignored by locals, though much admired by tourists, heritage monuments are epics composed with brick and mortar. Or timber and thatch as the case maybe. It is these stories that evoke the imagination of thronging tourists. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to document the rich built heritage our country has to offer. Having had the good fortune to travel to remote parts of our country in search of many such enchanting architectural marvels, I share some of them with you here.
Homes
Just like people, no two homes could ever be alike. Though Condominium apartments or row-house villas in gated communities may look the same from outside, it’s the inside that acquires an inimitable personality, inspired by the people living there. Capturing those distinctive characteristics is as much a labour a love for me, as the effort that went in to create their space.
A building is just a structure with bricks and mortar, until you make the spaces come alive. It’s the same in the case of architecture photography. What makes me the best architectural photographer in India, is the way I look at a space, angles and composition, and use light to capture a mood, impart drama, beauty and depth. I always shoot buildings in their natural light, because I truly believe that the real magic lies in the way light fills up rooms. My effort through my photography is to create compelling stories through pictures of the structure in a way that it can seduce the viewers into romanticizing what otherwise would be just a heritage building, a home or a hotel.
